Customer Critiques

The author of this book has suffered the consequences of Bell's Palsy twice. I have only had it once, which is enough for any one. I cannot help but believe that such a negative, bitter attitude as in this book is not going to aid anyone. I bought it, read it and destroyed it. A vitamin/antioxidant regime is what appears to have brought about my 98% recovery. As soon as I got my physique and thoughts on the appropriate track it came swiftly. Whilst I remained negative and self-pitying, I stayed ill. I had Polio and this is worse in my opinion. It is a miserable illness and when ill you have to have positive help and a positive outlook. This book offered neither.

This book gave me a much much better understanding about what is occurring with a Bell's Palsy sufferer. Being informed about very important problems such as eye care and emotional distress had been crucial! The author took the time to explain his episodes and his intense feelings that arose. Seeing that BP can influence your self-esteem and even your profession suggests that family members and friends need to present support! Understanding the option therapy approaches presented enables a single to know more about the medical options available. I would highly advocate this book to household, good friends, and physicians so that they too can have a far more realistic take on Bell's Palsy! Excellent Reading.

Client Evaluations

I suffer with really rather dry eyes. They sting a lot and I frequently have to place drops in them. Recently the drops just weren't doing it for me anymore.... felt like an individual glued my eyelids open and sat me in front of an industrialized heavy duty fan. I had to take frequent naps each day just to aid with my stinging dry eyes. I got headaches when I read or stared at the laptop or computer also long result in of persistent stinging. For my 'Dry eye syndrome' this is the Initial and ONLY item that has seriously helped. My eyes are no longer red. They do not burn, they do not dry out rapidly.
I nevertheless use liquid drops but perhaps only when of twice daily and this is only since I am afraid my eyes dry out again.
This product is worth the revenue and I extremely recommend it.

The Refresh PM Ointment was prescribed by my eye specialist as I have Rosacea in my eyes and they are dry. When your eye sight is on the line you use what the Dr. Says. I had a challenging time at initial acquiring use to placing this in my eyes and it feels like your searching via plastic. I did get use to it and I acquire it makes my eyes feel much better. I only use it at night when I go to bed. If you have dry eyes and or Rosacea, I would recommend working with this.

Customer Reviews

I developed Bell's Palsy and spent quite a bit of time online reading as much as I could about it. Luckily there are many good, informative sites about the condition, but there is always more to learn. I hoped that this newly published book would be a good source of new information. Instead, I found that it is a very tiny paperback (79 pages) with several pages blank or mostly blank. And worst of all, much of the information seems to have been lifted off the Bell's Palsy website information. One of the reasons I purchased this book was to help me discover the best way to tape eyes shut at night ( one of the more annoying and potentially dangerous activities one must do when your eye won't shut on its own). And I found that Dr. Porter's advice was... wait for it... "your doctor will show you how". This was one of the worst books I have ever read. Don't waste your time.

If you only just got Bells Palsy, this is among the best self-help books you will find. Get it right away for the most immediate help. if you've had Bells Palsy for a long, long time then you can skip the purchase and just go to an acupuncturist and/or use some of the common suggestions.
There are basically two natural modalities that work to help new Bells Palsy sufferers - vitamin B12 injections or oral methyl B-12 vitamins, which the author amply covered extensively, and acupuncture. The B12 cure has everything you need to know to get started immediately, and you won't find more information than this available on the web.
There's also information on the other supplements used for Bells Palsy, such as Acetyl l-carnitine, MSM, histamine and ATP, and the most common helpful hints how to protect the eyes during the day and night. The important thing is the ample coverage on the disease condition itself and how and why to use vitamin B12 right away or in the first few weeks of the disease. If natural treatments are going to help, this is where you'll find that assistance. The book is short because there's not a lot you can do other than what's in it, but the information it has is thorough, except for some how to facial exercises you might want to do, but I agree with the author that your doctor should show you how to do that correctly and correct you, so you do it right.
I suppose I should fault the author for not writing more about acupuncture and it is helpful for this terrible condition, but you certainly cannot teach how to do acupuncture in a book since you have to go to an acupuncturist specialist anyway, and they'll know how. So Porter's advice is warranted, which is that you need to find an acupuncturist who already has had some experience with Bells Palsy patients, if you want to see positive results from its usage, or with electroacupuncture. You have to call around in your area using the internet or Yellow Pages to find an acupuncturist. Simple enough, but Porter says everyone should start with the B12.
If you've had Bells Palsy for a long time, acupuncture is the first thing to try, whereas B12 is the important thing to do first if it only just happened to you. That is all explained in Porter's book. I thought it was well explained - and excellent value. Most of the information may be found on the web, but chasing information on the web, some of which may not be helpful, and piecing it all together over a long time, is just a waste of time when all the right information is found in this book.
